Strapping: what are its main features and advantages?

Strapping has become a very useful tool when it comes to securing packages for any company or business that carries out shipments by mail. Due to the boom that online sales have acquired in recent years, many businesses have increased their demand for the acquisition of strapping systems. According to a report published on July 28, 2021 by Statista, 79.4% of the total number of Internet users in Spain are online shoppers. In other words, this data shows that nearly 8 out of 10 Spaniards who surf the Internet are cyber shoppers.

Therefore, due to the abundant traffic of packages in postal services, securing our packages has become a priority factor for any company that distributes, markets or exports tangible products; regardless of its size or activity.

Types of strapping:

-Polypropylene (PP) strapping: Polypropylene strapping is perfect for packing light loads. They are generally used for shorter distances.

Polyester strapping (PET): unlike polypropylene strapping, polyester strapping is used to transport heavier (medium-heavy) goods. Thanks to its versatility, it easily adapts to any format or volume without breaking or tearing over longer distances. In addition, its high permanent tensioning capacity allows it to cover rigid items / with protruding angles in complete safety.

-Textile strapping: if your company or business needs to protect heavier or fragile goods (wood products, machinery...) this is the type of strapping you need. In addition, thanks to its great versatility, it is a product adaptable to different types of volumes.

Main advantages of using a manual strapping machine

-High protection in the transport process: the strapping acts as an insulating agent so that the goods do not suffer any scratches or blows during transport.

-They contribute to a positive branding (good brand image of the business) since the product will be preserved in perfect condition.

-Economic savings: what would happen if we add up the annual accidents caused during the transportation process when moving our goods from one place to another? It turns out that with the use of the strapping machine, we will save in expenses produced by accidents or collisions; reducing notably, the damages produced in these situations.

-Speed and increased production: by using manual strapping machines, workers will pack the product more quickly. With this, it should be noted, that by means of the strapping machine, the corresponding tension will be applied more comfortably so that the straps are united and protect the goods to the maximum.

What types of strapping machines can we find in the market?

-Manual strapping machines: the worker will be in charge of carrying out the process manually; from the placement of the goods, the application of the corresponding tension in its packaging and joining.

-Semi-automatic shirring machines: the person in charge will only place the load in the machine; the rest of the process will be carried out automatically. However, if it is necessary to apply some strap reinforcement, it will have to be done manually.

-Automatic strapping machines: the strapping will be carried out automatically. The worker will only supervise the process to ensure that it is carried out correctly.
